I help consultancies like yours build the systems that power sustainable growth. With a sharp focus on making sure you have the right systems and tools in place, such as Capsule CRM, and clear process mapping, I set you up with a toolkit that takes the chaos out of client management, delivery, and sales.
Why I get it
I’ve worked in and around consultancy businesses since 2000, as an ops manager, director of a software testing consultancy and supported many other consultancies since I set up The Ops Department.

I’ve been in the trenches of fast growth and the pain that brings. I’ve seen the wheels come off when systems aren’t in place or no longer work as the business grows. And I’ve helped put them back on, quickly and calmly.
​
Managing the operations function for the software testing consultancy I co-owned enabled us to scale from zero to 30 billable consultants in 18 months. And I’ve helped other small consultancies develop their systems, and with the addition of Capsule CRM, have enabled them to become more efficient, increase profits, and scale (and in some cases, be able to sell their businesses when they were ready).
A personal approach
I only work with a small number of clients at a time, so you get my full attention.

My style is clear, practical and direct. Working closely with you, I’ll get a clear understanding of your business and vision and then guide you through the options. With the full Business Systems Build package, I will do the heavy lifting and set up your CRM for you so you don’t have to. It will be built and designed specifically for your business.

Once the right systems and tools are in place and you’re ready to scale further, I can help you recruit and train full-time ops support, if that’s what you need, or stay on in an advisory role. Your choice.
Beyond the Ops desk
I’m a strong believer in giving back, and I was on the South Surrey Board of Young Enterprise, a charity whose aims are to develop business skills in young people, preparing them for life outside of education. I still regularly act as a judge at the regional competitions.

I have also been involved in various local environmental projects – I used to run the Horsham Repair Café and I run a page on Facebook with a friend called Stop the Old Bags to help people live with less plastic in their lives.
​
And following the diagnosis of a dear friend with terminal cancer, I raised over £23k for a local hospice through organising a ball, having my head shaved and supporting other activities from others.
