How an electrical services company increased revenue by 600%; in six years

CC Electrics – ‘Masters of the invizible force ‘provides electrical maintenance services for retirement living and care homes.

The issues

As is typical of the small business owner, he was:

  • Juggling too many balls, doing everything from quotes to invoicing to being on the tools

  • Offering too many services and not enjoying certain aspects of what he was doing

  • Couldn’t grow

  • Was unsure what steps he needed to take to grow his business and increase revenue, but was hugely ambitious

  • Worked constantly with little to no free time.

Why Karen?

We met through networking in late 2014 and started working together. However, it was put on hold because the time wasn’t right for Carl, who decided to continue operating as a one-man band for the time being.

He got back in touch in 2019, ready to take the next steps to grow his business.


What we did

  • Refocused his business and niched to providing maintenance services for retirement and assisted living homes. Before, he was also offering domestic services but as this is a crowded niche, we wanted to focus on where he was adding most value.

  • Redesigned and rewrote his website to provide this new focus on maintenance services for retirement and assisted living homes. We rewrote the copy to highlight their particular issues and how CC Electrics helped them. It included testimonials from happy managers.

  • Developed his key why – ‘Customer Excellence’ which drives how he and his team work and deliver to their customers. Everything they do is focused on delivering the best service to the customer. Which includes; keeping the managers informed of visits, always wearing the CC Electrics uniforms, so managers are reassured, following up with emails afterwards to confirm the visit.

  • Documented processes and procedures to streamline the business and to allow him to outsource the work to others. This included checklists for the electricians to make sure they followed a consistent process when carrying out work.

  • Implemented additional software to support the business – Tradify and Capsule CRM. This allowed them to not only manage their jobs most effectively via the Tradify app, but with Capsule implemented it allowed them to deliver effective communications and marketing campaigns.

  • Ran a marketing campaign to a housing group, resulting in an increase in schemes managed(a campaign process that can be switched on and off as needed).

  • Recruited for new engineers and an office manager.


Results - substantial increase in revenue

  • Turnover has increased by 600% since 2019.

  • The company is now VAT registered.

  • The team has grown to five.

  • Carl has his evenings back and has been able to take holidays, safe in the knowledge that his business is running without him.

  • His company has won awards as the best supplier for their key customer.

  • Plans for world domination! Carl’s vision for the future is to be the Pimlico Plumbers of electrical maintenance for the retirement sector.
